The Preacher’s Wife (1996)
Presented by The GRAND for ‘Seasons Screenings’
Sometimes, even a miracle needs a little help.
In this warm-hearted Christmas classic, Denzel Washington stars as Dudley, an angel sent to lend a hand to a struggling preacher (Courtney B. Vance) and his wife, Julia (Whitney Houston), whose marriage is beginning to lose its way. But as Dudley works his heavenly magic, he finds himself getting a little too close to the very people he’s meant to help.
Directed by Penny Marshall, The Preacher’s Wife is a soulful, feel-good Christmas story filled with gospel, romance and a little divine intervention. With Whitney Houston’s unforgettable voice at its heart, it’s the kind of film that reminds us what the season is really about: community, kindness and finding our way back to one another.
Come cozy up at The GRAND this holiday season for a little festive nostalgia, a great film, bubbly drinks, a warm theatre, and a reminder that sometimes the best gifts are the ones we never saw coming.
