L-BLOCK
A SPACE TO BE REIMAGINED…
In partnership with Allied, owner of the historic Lougheed Building, The GRAND is exploring how the flexible, neighbouring L-Block could respond to Calgary’s creative space needs and expand opportunities for artists and arts organizations.
This fall, The GRAND is collecting community experiences with space rental in Calgary and your vision for space usage in the city. Your responses will be used to help determine the future of the L-Block at The GRAND.
The survey is less than 25 questions and should take approximately 5 -10 minutes to complete, and respondents can enter to win a full-day’s rental in The GRAND’s Studio (a $600 value).

WHY THE GRAND IS LEASING L-BLOCK
We’ve heard you, Calgary needs more accessible, affordable space for artists to rehearse, create, teach, experiment and perform.
As part of our commitment to Calgary’s arts and culture community, The GRAND is leasing spaces in side L-Block, in partnership with Allied, the owner of the Lougheed.
The additional space allows us to expand our role as a home for artists and arts organizations, providing opportunities for rehearsals, creative development, performances, exhibitions, workshops, classes and community gatherings.
It also allows us to make better use of an underused building while creating more opportunities for Calgary’s diverse creative community to connect and collaborate.
For The GRAND, L-Block is part of a broader sustainability strategy: expanding our footprint, diversifying revenue and creating a more financially resilient organization while continuing to provide accessible space for artists.
We’re leasing L-Block because Calgary’s creative community needs more space — and we believe The GRAND can help provide it.
