MINO-PIMATISIWIN: RECLAIMING THE “GOOD LIFE”

The GRAND and Exposure Photography Festival present

In conjunction with Exposure Photography Festival, The GRAND presents Mino-Pimatisiwin: Reclaiming the 'Good Life' curated by Autumn Whiteway. An exhibition dedicated to the resurgence of Indigenous Culture, Mino-pimatisiwin, a Cree word for the "Good Life”, describes when all aspects of life are in balance and harmony: the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Mino-Pimatisiwin: Reclaiming the 'Good Life' will feature 40 photographic works by local Indigenous artists in The GRAND's historic Lobby.

Autumn Whiteway (“Night Singing Woman”) is a Saulteaux/Métis visual artist, traditional craftworker, curator and archaeologist. She holds an M.A. in Anthropology from University of Manitoba, a B.Sc. (First Class Honours) in Archaeology concentrating in Physical Anthropology from University of Calgary and a B.A. (With Distinction) in Greek and Roman Studies from University of Calgary.


Please join us online for the Closing Reception of Mino-Pimatisiwin: Reclaiming the ‘Good Life’ via Zoom this Friday, February 25, 2022 from 6-7:30 pm MST.

Chantal Chagnon will open with drumming and singing. Participating Artists who are able to join us will speak about their work and Curator Autumn Whiteway will lead a Q & A.

The exhibition opens February 3, 2022 and ends February 26, 2022. The GRAND’s lobby will be open for this exhibition on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 11:00AM to 03:00PM.
