Woezo Africa Cultural Festival

presented by
Woezo Africa Music & Dance Theatre Inc.

During this festival, you can expect an evening of live music, spoken word, dance performances, visual arts exhibition, the screening of the Roots 2 Branches film and a panel discussion with the three storytellers.

Filmed in Mohkínstsis (Calgary), this short documentary features three resilient Black women revisit their formative years in Calgary's Public School Board system. Uncovering deeply personal and transformative stories, the film explores their shared experiences with systemic racism during high school. Through candid interviews, emotional recollections, and artistic interpretations, the women confront challenges, navigate racial bias, and showcase their collective resilience, highlighting the enduring impact of their journey.

Join us on the screening of this documentary and experience a series of interactive community building activities, and performances.
