Songs In The Saddle: A Stampede Songwriters Showcase w/ Elliot C Way & Carter Felker

presented by
North Country Collective

Get ready, Calgary! The North Country Collective is quickly becoming the heart of a growing grassroots community, championing songwriters who value honesty, authenticity, and the timeless traditions of country, folk, and Americana music.

This special event at the historic Grand Theatre brings together two of Western Canada’s finest songwriters for an evening that celebrates the craft of storytelling through song. Fans of artists like Steve Earle, Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt, and John Prine will feel right at home as these songs and stories unfold on stage.

Vancouver’s Elliot C. Way is no stranger to Calgary or the Stampede, making annual trips through Alberta that have earned him a loyal and growing following. An outlaw country songwriter with a gritty, unmistakable voice, Elliott writes songs rooted in honesty, hard-won experience, and a deep respect for the traditions of the genre. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Waylon Jennings, Bruce Springsteen, and Bob Dylan, his live performances are shaped by years on the road and a commitment to songcraft above all else.

Joining him is Calgary’s own Carter Felker, one of the most respected voices in Alberta’s independent country scene. Widely recognized for his acclaimed songwriting and thoughtful records, Felker’s plain-spoken delivery, reedy tenor, and understated musicianship bring to life songs filled with humanity, heartache, humour, and hope. His ability to capture universal truths through everyday stories has made him a standout voice among a new generation of Canadian songwriters.

Both artists will be joined by some of the finest musicians in the country, including players who have shared stages and recording sessions with some of Canada’s most celebrated artists, including Alberta’s own Noeline Hofmann.

Expect an intimate evening of songs and stories—music that speaks to the soul, honours the traditions of classic country and Americana, and reminds us why great songwriting endures. Whether you're drawn to the outlaw spirit of country music or the rich storytelling traditions of folk and Americana, this is a night designed for listeners who appreciate songs with something to say.
