Summer Position: Operations Officer

Reports To: Head of Administration & Operations

Location: The GRAND, Calgary, AB, with some remote work as needed

Full time (35 hours per week) for 8 weeks total.
Compensation: $21 an hour

Your expertise:

  • PLANNING AND ORGANIZING: Solid organizational and project management skills. 

  • INFORMATION SEEKING: efficiently and effectively gather information, identify information required to clarify a situation, and seek information from appropriate sources. 

  • FOCUS ON QUALITY AND DETAILS: Detail oriented and creative problem solver who consistently prepares high quality work. 

  • EFFECTIVE INTERACTIVE COMMUNICATION: Strong communicator, being able to effectively work with GRAND staff, GRAND patrons and clients.

  • CROSS-CULTURAL SENSITIVITY: Cross-cultural sensitivity and unbiased execution of events and interaction with diverse patrons and clients.

  • COOPERATION AND COLLABORATION: Proactive in identifying new solutions and practices in event/performance execution with a diverse team. 

What you’ll be doing:  

The Operations Officer will focus on facility maintenance and administrative support. This includes (but is not limited to):

  • Working with managers and other staff members to ensure that administrative tasks are completed and that the business functions efficiently; 

  • Completing necessary documentation as required: updating manuals, policies and procedures, etc.;

  • Updating and maintaining the facility maintenance plan and escalating priority items;

  • Performing regular building walkthroughs, checking and documenting for any maintenance as required;

  • Liaising with Allied Building Operator or contractors as required; 

  • Working with existing vendors to purchase equipment and supplies; 

  • Finding new vendors when new products or supplies are required;

  • Storing and organizing all office, custodial, electrical, plumbing, and security supplies; 

  • Maintaining all facility light fixtures and replace light bulbs as required (interior) 

  • Between custodial services – checking all washrooms and ensuring all supplies are in place and garbage is emptied if required;

  • Working with other departments to ensure first aid kits are kept stocked and up to date. 

Your educational background:

  • Post secondary education is an asset, but not a requirement. 

  • Intermediate level computer skills in Google Suite, MS Office.

Position Type:

Reporting into the Head of Administration & Operations, this is a full time position working 35 hours per week for 8 weeks. Any additional hours will be compensated according to our time in lieu policy, or will be negotiated with the Head of Administration & Operations.

The GRAND is situated on the land where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. The traditional Blackfoot name of this place is Mohkinstsis, which is also referred to as the City of Calgary.
