KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Your expertise:
PROBLEM SOLVING & HANDS-ON SKILLS: A resourceful and solutions-oriented thinker who can tackle a range of building and repair tasks efficiently and effectively.
COMMUNICATION & COLLABORATION: A clear and timely communicator who can work well with internal teams, contractors, vendors, and our building partners.
ORGANIZATION & FOLLOW-THROUGH: Highly organized with the ability to manage schedules, prioritize tasks, and follow projects through to completion.
INDEPENDENCE & INITIATIVE: Able to work autonomously, make informed decisions, and identify when to escalate issues.
TECHNICAL & TRADE KNOWLEDGE: Comfortable with light repair work and knowledgeable about building systems, trades, and facility upkeep.
What you’ll be doing:
The Facilities Coordinator is a key support role in maintaining The GRAND’s building and infrastructure. From small repairs to coordinating major upgrades, this role ensures the building is safe, clean, functional, and ready to support the organization’s programming and operations. This position balances hands-on maintenance work with contractor coordination and internal communication, making it ideal for someone who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and working behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly.
Duties of the Facilities Coordinator may include, but are not limited to:
Liaise with Allied (our landlord) and their Building Operator on facility issues and repairs;
Contact contractors or trades as needed and oversee their work onsite (including our designated IT company);
Obtain quotes for upcoming facility work or repairs and track project timelines;
Assist with light maintenance including painting, caulking, patching walls, deep cleaning, and changing light bulbs;
Escort and support contractors and vendors while onsite, ensuring access and safety;
Identify, document, and escalate facility issues as needed;
Communicate upcoming repairs or maintenance work to internal teams in a clear and timely manner;
Work with administrative staff to manage supply inventory and storage;
Support special projects, renovations, or building upgrades in collaboration with other departments;
Act as a security contact for the building alarm system, including monitoring security cameras, logging alarm activity, and communicating with the alarm company or police as necessary;
Your educational background:Experience in building maintenance, facility operations, or a similar hands-on role is preferred.
Basic knowledge of trades (e.g., electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry) is an asset.
Intermediate computer skills in Google Suite and MS Office required.
Post Secondary Education is considered an asset.
Position Type:
Eventually reporting to the Technical Director, this is a full time position. Occasional evening or weekend availability may be required depending on building needs.
Additional hours will be compensated according to our time in lieu policy or negotiated in advance.

The GRAND is situated on the land where the Bow River meets the Elbow River. The traditional Blackfoot name of this place is Mohkinstsis, which is also referred to as the City of Calgary.
